Car Registration transfer from KA to AP

In Bangalore the process works thus.


Submission of documents::

1> NOC from the KA authority.

2> NOC from the lending bank (SBI). If the hypothecation has already been cancelled then no need of bank documents. If its still there then you need NOC and Form28 from the bank.

3> Latest pollution under control certificate (Depends on the Vehicle age)

4> First there is a change of address. So you have to give address proof. Address proof would be only DL, Passport, Nationalized bank, LIC or BSNL bill. Nothing else is accepted.

5> Registration Papers.



Tax payment::

6> Also needed is Invoice of the car. This is used for tax calculation purposes.

Inspection of car::

Once the documents are submitted, you have to get your car for inspection. The RTO inspector will look at the car and chassis number, inspect if the headlights work well etc. He then signs the form and you submit the documents for address change.



Change of address::

After 15 days you get your doc's back with the address change in the RC.



Re-apply after 90 days::

Now you have to wait a minimum of 90 days and then resubmit the documents. The RTO sends a letter of enquiry to your original RTO to check for any problems.



New number after another 15 - 90 days::

Once the above RTO enquiry is done and cleared then you will get a new number. This time can be anywhere from 15 days to 90 days.



Road Tax Refund from KA::

The road tax paid at Bangalore RTO (for that matter any RTO) can be reimbursed if you personally go to Bangalore RTO and go through the ordeal of trying to get money from the Government . Once you meet the RTO and apply for Road tax refund, RTO will then sends a letter to AP RTO (and 1 copy to you) for confirmation. Once he receives the confirmation, within 1 week RTO will send the refund check to the address given by YOU.

Refund Slabs::

Car Age: Up to 1 year – 93%

1 to 2 years – 85%

2 to 3 years – 75% etc.

Docs Required::

1> Copy of New RC Book (AP)

2> Copy of Tax paid receipt (AP)

3> Copy of OLD RC Book (KA)

4> NOC (KA)
